NEGOP - Stand with Rand

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, the State Central Committee of the Nebraska Republican Party passed the following resolution by a unanimous vote, proposed and submitted by the Republican Liberty Caucus of Nebraska:

Whereas, the Republican Party of Nebraska greatly values the Civil Liberties guaranteed by the United States Constitution, and;

Whereas, during U.S. Senator Rand Paul's historic filibuster on March 6th, 2013 it was stated by U.S. Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Marco Rubio, that: "The use of drones to execute, or to target American citizens on American soil who pose no imminent threat clearly violates the Constitutional due process rights of citizens.", and;

Whereas, the National Republican Party Platform states: "We affirm that all legislation, rules, and regulations must conform and public servants must adhere to the U.S. Constitution, as originally intended by the Framers. Whether such legislation is a State or Federal matter must be determined in accordance with the Tenth Amendment, inconjunction with Article I, Section 8.", and;

Whereas, State Senator Paul Schumacher has introduced LB 412, the “Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act,” in accordance with the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution by declaring, "The use of drones to conduct surveillance on citizens or property, without proper warrant, is a violation of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution, and should not be admissible in Courts of Law.", now;

Therefore be it resolved, that the Republican Party of Nebraska supports State Senator Paul Schumacher’s LB 412, and be it further;

Resolved, that the Nebraska Republican Party calls upon all State Senators that believe in the due process of law to pass LB 412, and be it further;

Resolved, that the Nebraska Republican Party calls upon all Republican elected officials to oppose all use of drones for any unconstitutional purposes.
