Founded in 1991, the Republican Liberty Caucus is a nationwide grassroots organization which promotes individual liberty and limited government within the Republican Party. It has chartered groups in many states, including Nebraska. You can find more information about the Republican Liberty Caucus at www.rlc.org www.rlc.org.
The Republican Liberty Caucus of Nebraska received its Charter in June of 2008. The Charter Members considered themselves the Goldwater, Reagan, and Paul Republicans.
Since 2008 membership has boomed to be the fourth largest RLC State organization in the Country. The RLCNE is proud to say it seeks to be a principled voice for liberty in the larger Republican Party. Among its members are several elected officials and multiple county & state GOP officers.
The current RLCNE Board and Officers come from all three Congressional Districts.
General Membership is spread throughout much of the geography of the state, and we have currently have active Chapters in 5 different geographies: Douglas County, Sarpy County, Lancaster County and surrounding areas, Buffalo County and surrounding areas, and Platte County and surrounding areas.
While we are not a homogeneous group, those who find themselves generally agreeing with our support of the following issues would find themselves in good company with the RLC:
- Lower and fewer taxes
- The right to privacy
- The right to keep and bear arms
- Balanced budgets through spending cuts
- Educational Choice
- Freedom of speech
- Protection of property rights
- Market-based health care
- Alternatives to the drug war
- All-volunteer armed forces
- Sound monetary policies
- Phase-out of foreign aid
- Ending federal welfare
- Private options to Social Security
